Description

The Prague Process Senior Officials' Meeting is organised upon the invitation of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees of Germany, the country presently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and the Ministry of the Interior of Lithuania as the current Leading State of the Prague Process.

The meeting is taking place on 16 November 2020 in a remote format. It will first provide all Prague Process states with an opportunity to share their ongoing migration policy priorities and particular needs in terms of international cooperation. Thereafter, senior officials – policy and decision-makers in the area of migration - will receive a brief overview of the activities implemented since their previous gathering in Bucharest in June 2019 and those actions envisaged for 2021.

These future actions shall correspond to the thematic priorities expressed by participating states in their answers to the Prague Process Questionnaire disseminated in July 2020. An analysis of their answers will be provided in order to identify the common thematic priorities within the Action Plan established by the Ministerial Conference of 2011.

At the occasion of the SOM, the Prague Process Chairmanship will be handed over from Lithuania to the Czech Republic, which will then also introduce the Roadmap to the 4th Prague Process Ministerial Conference envisaged for 2022. The final feedback session shall allow the participating states to provide their views on the issues raised and share their expectations for future cooperation within the Prague Process.
