11th ICMPD International Summer School on Migration takes place from 7 to 13 July 2024 in Georgia: Apply Now!

For the 11th time, ICMPD is proud to announce the organisation of the International Summer School on Migration and invites interested candidates to apply. The summer school is a collaborative effort among the EU-funded projects “Implementing the Mobility Partnership in Azerbaijan” (MOBILAZE 2), “Strengthening Development Impact of Migration in Georgia” (STREAMinG 2), and the Prague Process, with all three initiatives led by ICMPD.

Set to take place in Georgia from 7 to 13 July 2024, the Summer School aims to facilitate critical academic exchange and reflection on migration issues. International academic experts from the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, University of Sussex, University Leiden, the Maastricht University Graduate School of Governance and ICMPD will lecture and mentor students. They will cover a range of topics, including introduction to migration studies, migration and development, migration and the economy, perception of migrants and media and migration, migration law and human rights. The one-week summer school will feature multidisciplinary and innovative academic and research-oriented lectures, seminars and projects focusing on migration situations and policies in the EU, its Eastern neighbourhood and worldwide. Teaching will be accompanied by research, practical exercises, and interactive discussions.

Admission:

• Up to 50 students from migration studies, journalism/ media studies, international/migration law, economics, demography, history and/ or social and political sciences can take part in the summer school. Young professionals working on migration issues are strongly encouraged to apply as well.
• Citizens from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine are eligible to apply. Some spots will be available for nationals of these countries living in the EU.
• The Summer School is free of charge for the participants. All participants will receive board and lodge free of charge. Travel costs will be covered and arranged by ICMPD.
• The deadline for applications is 8 May 2024. The Summer School selection procedure will be completed until 24 May 2024. Only selected candidates will be contacted. Due to the high number of applicants, please refrain from contacting the ICMPD selection team with individual requests.
