The Prague Process webinar ‘Reporting Migration: the role of media in shaping public opinion and policies on migration’ with Mr. Adalbert Jahnz, European Commission Spokesperson for migration, home affairs and citizenship, Mr. Robert McNeil, Deputy Director, Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, and Mr. Tom Law, Media Policy Adviser, Global Forum for Media Development, will take place on 24 June 2021 at 14:00 CET.
The webinar will assess the role of media in shaping public opinion while informing on migration and related policies. It will further introduce the Handbook on “Reporting Migration” developed in 2020 within the MOMENTA 2 (Migration Media Training Academy) project, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. Its main aim has been to improve media migration reporting in the Eastern Partnership countries by helping journalists to create impartial, fact-based reporting in an engaging way.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Adalbert Jahnz: Spokesperson for migration, home affairs and citizenship at the European Commission. Former Member of Cabinet of Vice-President M. Šefčovič (Energy Union). Previously held different positions in the European Commission.
Robert McNeil: Researcher at COMPAS, Deputy Director/Head of Media and Communications, Migration Observatory of the University of Oxford. Previously, Rob was a reporter for various UK newspapers.
Tom Law: Media Policy Adviser to the Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD); independent media development consultant. Previously member of the Ethical Journalism Network and freelance journalist.
