Description

The Prague Process Training Academy is pleased to announce a new call for nominations of asylum and reception practitioners from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, for participation in the automated training offerings for self-paced learning provided by the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA).

In alignment with the training needs identified through the learning assessment survey conducted in 2023, the EUAA is granting access to the modules of the European Asylum Curriculum: “Introduction to communication for asylum and reception practitioners”. The relevant authorities of the ten aforementioned Prague Process participating states are cordially to register an unlimited number of nominations for relevant staff members engaged in asylum and reception work at the national level to participate in this unique learning opportunity.


Registration

Nominated participants are requested to register via this link by 3 February 2025. 

Upon registration and approval by the EUAA, each participant will receive five weeks of access (17 February to 23 March 2025) to the foundational module, with training sessions conducted online through the EUAA Learning and Management System.


Description of the module

The aim of this module is to provide asylum and reception practitioners with the necessary set of soft skills to ensure effective interpersonal communication.

This module focuses on the core principles of communication theory and questioning techniques in intercultural asylum contexts. It also deals with the principles of interpersonal communication, the impact of non-verbal communication and the most effective types of questions to elicit information. The module describes how cultural diversity can impact the communication process and introduces techniques that lower the risk of miscommunication in a multicultural environment.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify effective communication techniques to deliver and elicit information in asylum contexts
  2. Identify communication interventions relevant to asylum contexts that minimise miscommunication deriving from intercultural differences

The module is delivered online, enabling self-paced learning. Estimated duration: 4 h 30 min online learning
