Training Workshop on Migration Data Management
Tuesday, 08 October 2019 - Thursday, 10 October 2019
Location: Vilnius, Lithuania
Description
This expert-level training represents a follow-up activity to the Workshop on Gathering, Analysis and Sharing of Migration Data, held in October 2018 in Skopje. It aims to address the request of numerous Prague Process participating states to receive a more in-depth training concerning data collection, analysis and visualisation techniques. The main objectives of the training are:
- To strengthen the capacities of the state institutions and their staff to collect, analyse and use (also disseminate) reliable data on migration;
- To increase the understanding on how migration data can be used in terms of the policy making and management of migration;
- To supply specialists dealing with migration data at national level with the knowledge needed and tools available for an effective data visualisation;
- To enhance the comparability of national datasets in order to pave the way for potential future synergies in this area.
Ultimately, the training shall support the main objective of the Prague Process Migration Observatory - to enhance information sharing among the Parties and better inform policy makers and experts from the migration authorities in their decisions.
The training will entail case studies, discussions and exercises to enhance participants’ understanding of the particular challenges and good practices related to the collection, analysis, adequate use and dissemination of migration data.
