The training which took place at the Frontex premises in Warsaw on 26-28 February 2013 was held in Russian and entailed two days of face-to-face training as well as one day of didactics. The training-of trainers gathered a total of 18 trainers from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Lithuania as well as the UNHCR (offices in Kiev, Minsk and Moscow) and FRONTEX. Trainers from Ukraine fulfilled the online part of the training and a separate face-to-face training will be organised for Ukraine later on. The training of trainers was carried out by two so-called “master” trainers on the European Asylum Curriculum (EAC) as well as representatives of the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and the Swedish Migration Board. The training was conducted in a friendly atmosphere, in which all participants were actively engaged and held dynamic and energetic discussions. Further feedback will be gathered regarding the overall content, the training materials and the on-line implementation as well as other necessary improvements. This feedback could eventually feed into potential future follow-up projects. A Russian translation of the training manual will be considered. With the aim to cascade the knowledge, the five countries participating in the training will start their online as well as face-to-face trainings on national level in the upcoming months. Ownership and sustainability represent two key elements in this respect. The trainings will be conducted by the national trainers supported by accredited EAC trainers, possibly with the support from EASO and UNHCR.
